World Education is dedicated to improving the lives of the poor through education, and economic and social development programs.
World Education Thailand (previously known as World Education/Consortium) is a field office of World Education Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Boston, Massachusetts.
World Education Thailand works with refugees and migrants from Burma who live near the Thailand-Burma border. Over 1.4 million displaced people from Burma have been forced to leave their homes because of political instability and threat of human rights violations. World Education Thailand's goal is to build capacity and empower individuals through providing educational opportunities and support to local community-based organizations. World Education Thailand's educational initiatives are delivered through two projects: The SHIELD (Support to Health, Institution Building, Education and Leadership in Policy Dialogue) project is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The COPE (Creating Opportunities for Psychosocial Enhancement) project is funded by UNICEF.
