Safe Mothers, Safe Babies

  • About Us

Safe Mothers, Safe Babies (SAFE) is a nonprofit organization working in Uganda to improve maternal and child health (MCH). We believe that pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood should be protected times of growth and development, regardless of where someone is born or the location in which he/she lives. We also believe that the most successful, sustainable way to achieve this moral imperative is to work WITH, rather than for, the people who currently do not enjoy such freedoms; to this end, we employ a model of participatory development to work with rural communities to define maternal and child health in their terms, understand and prioritize barriers to good health, and create long-term and community-sustainable solutions.
