Directions For Our Youth, Inc. was founded in 1991 by three young, minority professionals to show young people in the New York City public schools that there is a way out of the poverty and hopelessness they often face in their inner city neighborhoods. Since then, our innovative, award-winning programs have impacted the lives of more than 55,000 young people in 64 schools throughout the City. In the midst of our growth, the mission has remained unchanged: to inspire young people to reach beyond the realities of life in the inner city and realize their full potential as students, as professionals, and as caring, contributing members of our society.
