SYFC is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential services to Somali and other underserved groups in King County.
We are devoted to maximizing the learning experience of every child by guiding, and challenging them to reach their fullest potential through community networking and our own challenging and inspiring programs. We are committed to building leaders and promoting productive participants in an increasingly diverse society by providing the opportunities, resources, and skills necessary to be lifelong learners. SYFC strongly believes that the protection and educational development of all youth and the access to resources for families is necessary and integral to human progress. We are committed to working with all partners to provide access to essential services towards the attainment of sustainable quality life.
Programs: SYFC serves 400 clients per month in Skyway, Renton and the greater Seattle area in 3 program areas:
Afterschool Program-free tutoring and homework help ages 6-18 offered Mon-Thur 3-6pm
Adult ESL classes at Creston Point Apartments, taught by Renton Technical College accredited teachers
Weekend Cultural Classes open to all
Sha-Sha Early Foundations- providing part-time childcare focused on early childhood education,King County Kalaidascope Play n' Learn Affiliate classes held weekly open to ages 0-6 must be accompanied by a parent or FFN caregiver
Youth Leadership Initiatives- teens and young adults participate in leadership activities and trainings in partnership with Somali Family Care Network and Skyway Solutions Youth Team.
