About Us

The Organisation

Redbridge Equalities & Community Council (RECC) is an independent voluntary organisation which works to combat inequality, discrimination and prejudice, in all its forms throughout the London Borough of Redbridge. We take up a range of equalities issues – race, faith, disability, age gender, gender assignment, sexual orientation, marriage/civil partnership status, pregnancy, maternity, nationality and national origin.

Our goal is to promote equalities and human rights in Redbridge, supporting people who suffer persecution, discrimination and harassment, educating people about the fundamental human right to equality and empowering people to play an equal part in the life of the Redbridge community.

Our work includes:

  • Advocacy, advice and support for victims of harassment and discrimination;
  • Good Relations Work:- building bridges between different communities in an area especially where there are tensions;
  • Educational materials to challenge myths and prejudices and promote equalities and human rights;
  • Speaking to schools, community organisations, trades unions, places of worship and faith groups;
  • Engaging local communities in challenging prejudice and supporting victims of hate crime;
  • Community events and conferences;
  • Convening Redbridge Equalities Forum;
  • Policy research and advocacy.
