We are a nonprofit organization, with a mission to support people diagnosed with disabilities which significantly interferes with their ability to be gainfully employed. The services we provide ranges from supported self employment to recreational opportunities.
There are existing agencies that provide supported employment services, but people with disabilities and their families are mostly unable to afford the services, nor obtain transportation to access them. Sometimes the waiting period to access the government programs are over 9 years (almost impossible for a vast majority).
Research has revealed a growing need for post secondary support for people with disabilities in the US. The educational and respite opportunities that accessing free education affords them from K-12 are immediately lost as soon as they reach their 22nd birthday. Most of this people silently suffer as they remain vulnerable as a result of frustrated family members, who are unable to do more due to lack of adequate finances or ill health.
Workaccess is an organization equipped with seasoned special education professionals who have the expertise and the track record for providing meaningful programs for people with disabilities. Workaccess provides unique programs tailored to the needs of each client, empowering them to participate in the creation of jewelry, woodwork, diverse services, art and craft, soap and candle making, all of which are sold to give clients opportunities to earn their pay checks. In addition, clients are also able to participate in recreation such as bowling, art projects, concerts, restaurants/ eateries and several others. Furthermore, clients are encouraged to participate in volunteer opportunities in the community- such as cleaning, housekeeping, performing yard work etc.
Workaccess is an advocate for people with disabilities, and we provide programs to promote dignity, respect and their independence. In our world, giving the opportunity for people with disabilities to give back to the society is saying "One Nation, Under God, Indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for All.
