Description

PreschoolersAfternoon at the BeachClean Up

Where: Bocas del Toro, Panama; island archipelago on the Caribbean side. Volunteer accommodations are located on Isla Bastimentos; steps from the ocean and close to the volunteer site in Bahia Honda.

What: A volunteer organization dedicated to empowering Bahia Honda through community and educational development. Bahia Honda is a indigenous Ngobe population located in the island archipelago of Bocas del Toro, Panama. Our educational programs include our Monso Chi Escuelita or preschool for children ages 3-5, a summer camp, after school program, and adult english classes. Environmental/community development volunteer opportunities include water tank installations, sustainable chicken project, environment education, and beach clean-ups. Construction projects depend on needs from the community and have included playground construction, construction improvements to the school, and building a dining hall/kitchen for the school.

Why: A cultural immersion experience with an indigenous Ngobe village and a colorful Panamanian culture. Bahia Honda is a bay that consists of groups of isolated villages tucked away in the mangrove forests on the bay facing side of Bastimentos Island. The Ngobe live very primitive lives in thatched huts and travel by dugout canoes.

A unique volunteer experience that gives volunteers the opportunity to give to others and learn how to surf or enjoy various activities unique to Bocas. These activities include surf lessons, snorkeling, kayaking, jungle/cave hikes and tours, exploring the beautiful beaches, yoga and more.

Experience life on the water as all transportation to volunteer sites, surfing, beaches, and activities are done by boat in and around the islands. Your accommodations are steps from the caribbean and a short distance away from the volunteer site.

Join: email info@giveandsurf.org with your information and when you would like to come volunteer to start the process. Fee for all-inclusive volunteer experience is $500 for one week, $900 for two weeks, and $400 per week for one month or more.
