Sama Group is a collection of enterprises with a common social mission to ensure all human beings can afford to live with dignity.
We believe that talent is distributed evenly but economic opportunity is not. Globally, 4 billion people are living on less than $3.00 a day due to the disconnect between global talent and economic opportunity. What’s worse is that the disconnect is systemic, which means generations are trapped in poverty with no ability to earn a living wage.
We’re building a movement to change this.
Since 2008, the Sama Group has grown three successful social enterprises that use technology and private sector methods in new ways to measurably improve access to dignified work, critical medical care, and education.
Samasource Established in 2008, Samasource is a non-profit business that connects marginalized women and youth to dignified work via the Internet. We move people out of poverty by providing work that pays a sustainable, living wage in places with high rates of unemployment, including slums and rural communities in East Africa, South Asia, and the Americas.
Samahope Launched in 2012, Samahope is the first crowdfunding platform for medical treatments. We enable anyone anywhere to directly fund doctors’ life-changing medical treatments for women and children in need. We believe that transparent funding mechanisms can help close the global surgery gap and ensure that all people have access to one of life’s most basic needs.
SamaUSA Established in 2013, SamaUSA provides digital skills and job readiness training enabling low-income Americans to gain skills that generate measurable income growth in the Internet-based freelance economy, creating hope and a path out of poverty.
Through Sama Group enterprises, the organization has a presence in 12 countries and has
transformed the lives of 27,000 people.
