Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly (JCHE) was founded in 1965 in response to a compelling need for safe and affordable non-sectarian housing for low-income elders. Our founders sought to create housing that would offer seniors a life with dignity and respect. Today, over 1,300 tenants live independently in their own apartments in five JCHE buildings in Brighton and Newton, Massachusetts. The average age of our tenants is over 80 and their average annual income is about $9,000.
The JCHE mission is twofold: providing quality housing for low-income seniors and providing an enriching and supportive environment that allows tenants to live life to the fullest as long as possible in their JCHE home.
