About us

Founded in 1966, Boston Partners in Education (Boston Partners) enhances the academic achievement and nurtures the personal growth of Boston's public school students by providing them with focused, individualized in-school volunteer support.

Our primary goal is to support students in grades K-12, providing the extra attention they need to stay in school and graduate. Boston Partners recruits, trains, places, and supports community volunteers (academic mentors) to work in Boston Public Schools (BPS) classrooms with students one-on-one, in small groups, and, in grades K-2, whole classroom settings.

We focus on reaching students who might otherwise "fall through the cracks"—those children who have gaps in their learning, are struggling academically and personally, and can succeed with the encouragement and guidance of a caring adult academic mentor.
