The Outreach Social Care Project (OSCAR) is a grass-root non-profit organization,
which supports women, girls, youth, adults and young families in Pietermaritzburg, the capital of the KwaZulu-Natal province in eastern
South Africa. The organization provides much-needed services, such as food
security, climate change awareness, literacy/ ICT training, environmental, conservation and HIV/AIDS
awareness. Outreach Social Care Project and I are tackling South Africa’s
overwhelming development challenges.
At OSCAR Project, we believe that each person becomes a whole person through growth in all areas of development: social, emotional, intellectual and physical. There are currently about 2.5 million orphans in South Africa, and many more children are vulnerable. About half of this number is because of the AIDS pandemic.
It's to undertake programmes and initiatives that deliver to and support disadvantaged and underprivileged people, people affected and infected by HIV and AIDS, poverty alleviation, education, contribute to skills build, address women's issues, and the needs of children, youth and other disadvantaged groups with focus in assisting children, young people and issues affected young girls and women and their families in urban and rural areas in and around Pietermaritzburg- KwaZulu Natal.
We believe that with the right
resources and equipments, everyone can achieve great things. “Technology has
become the driving force of change in the modern world. It has altered our
economic structures and ways we communicate”. – Bill and Melinda Gates
Foundation.
Therefore, the moral obligation felt by OSCAR Project
is to empower such youth, girls and women by providing them with economically
viable skills required in combating unemployment and poverty.
