Friends of Brook Park needs your help. Volunteer, Intern, Donate. Now is the time. While we are proud to bring you our environmental programs, we need your support to keep us going. Whether you've just met us, known us for a season or our ten plus years, now is a great time to help us out with a generous end-of-year donation. Donate today. Visit here and click "Donate": http://www.friendsofbrookpark.org/contact-us/donate/ Your contribution is fully tax-deductible before 2012 and will go directly to offering nature education activities, making New York a greener, healthier place to live. In the words of a ninth grader: "Today I visited Brook Park and I loved being there feeling the air on my face and tasting nutrients that are fresh and clean and from mother nature herself. Places like this are important because they let people stop and think and breathe in the good nature air and take a step back to what we have to do to keep our planet healthy and clean. Brook Park is called Brook Park because there was/is a body of water under all… that there is right now. What I loved about this experience was that I did a lot of things I never thought I would be able to do. All that was new to me, and I'd love for someone else to have an experience with places like Brook Park." Your support has helped us:
Thanks for all you do.
More than a decade before PlaNYC2030 was announced, we have been engaged in numerous initiatives to make our city more green and livable.
We have accomplished much in a very short time:

"Ana Mercado produced this important documentary while engaged in a summer internship from Antioch College. Ana had been interested in social justice issues for many years and was greatly interested in linking her film interests with a real life cause. She met with many different community leaders, most of them affiliated with the Bronx Environmental Action Coalition, and learned about their efforts to shut down the GE power plants. The images were filmed in the South Bronx during the Summer and Autumn of 2003 and edited at school entirely on her own. Ana was grateful to the many people who shared time with her and helped inform the production of this video." We are working to convert and upload the entire 24 minute film. Featuring interviews with: Joe Perez of Freedom Community Center, Jaime Rivera South Bronx Clean Air Coalition, Max Rivera of Pueblo en Marcha, Luz Maria MAdrigal of St. Jerome's Church, Angel Garcia of Bronx Environmental Action Coalition, Carol Zakaluk, DBEDC Nicholas Arture of then City Council Member José M. Serrano's staff, Anthony Jordan of St. Benedict the Moor Community Center, Natasha Cowen and Rackel Cowen from Youth Taking Over Ana Maldonado Principal of Mott Have Prep Academy Harry Bubbins, Friends of Brook Park and more...
