Manhattan-Staten Island Area Health Education Center

The New York Metropolitan Regional Office of the New York State AHEC System was established in 1998 in response to the unequal distribution of the healthcare workforce and the pressing need to increase its diversity. The Manhattan-Staten Island AHEC (MSI AHEC) was developed to (1) encourage local youth, especially those from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds, to pursue health careers; (2) expand and support community-based training experiences for health profession students; and (3) provide continuing education and professional support to health practitioners in the metropolitan region to enhance their skills.
