About Us

Friends of the Forest Preserves works to preserve, restore, and promote the forest preserves of Cook County for the benefit of people and nature.

We are hands-on in our multifaceted approach to accomplishing our mission. We work directly with politicians and community leaders on forest preserve issues. We never miss a board meeting and, with 2,000+ of their constituents standing with us as FOTFP members, our opionion matters to them. We get on-the-ground restoration work done in the preserves by working with the district staff, hiring contractors, recruiting volunteers, and bringing in paid interns (high school through adult) because every hand counts. We get the word out about the preserves any chance we get and are working to get more people outside and enjoying nature in the forest preserves through education and empowerment.
