About Us

Founded in 2012, the Center on Global Interests (CGI) is a private, not-for-profit research institution headquartered in Washington, DC. CGI aims to promote new thinking on global affairs, provide fresh analysis of relations between modern world powers, particularly the US and Russia, and critically evaluate current global challenges.

CGI takes a multidimensional approach to research and analysis, contributes new ideas and insights aimed at promoting mutual understanding, and identifies shared interests between countries. We hold discussions and symposia in both the U.S. and abroad, and work with a network of affiliated scholars to publish reports and foster strategic dialogue. We organize independent task forces on unfolding trends in international relations, effectiveness of global governance structures, and on improving global stability and preventing conflicts between countries. Our work is intended to help policymakers, journalists, opinion-makers, educators and the general public alike.

CGI is governed by a Board of Directors and works with its Advisory Board. We value our political and economic independence and do not accept any direct or indirect U.S. or foreign government funding. We rely solely on foundation grants and private contributions to finance our programs.
