About us

Su Casa is a nonprofit organization founded in the tradition of the Catholic Worker gospel values of the works of mercy, nonviolence, simple living, and personal responsibility.  Our mission incorporates three distinct but interwoven parts into its mission. First, we offer a home to homeless Latino Families, in an atmosphere that is supportive and healing. All of our workers are volunteers, and live in a community environment with the families we serve . Second, we share with our neighbors to create a better community by offering hot meals at our soup kitchen and sharing donated clothing, food, and furniture, as well as seeking opportunities to improve their lives. Third, the Catholic Worker tradition of non-violence, education, social action, and thinking globally leads us to become involved in advocacy around issues of oppression both in and outside of Chicago.
