African Impact is a multi-award winning volunteer travel organisation, offering meaningful interactive volunteer programs throughout Africa. With over 8 years' experience and having facilitated over 10,000 volunteers, we are now the largest on-the-ground African specialists in volunteer tourism with operations offices in South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. We pride ourselves on doing things the right way, and are always seeking better, more sustainable ways to operate and offer responsible, safe volunteer experiences.
We truly believe in making a difference and empowering our volunteers to do the same. We work at harnessing the incredible power that comes from doing good and using it to effect long lasting positive change on local communities and the physical environments in which we work.
We offer a wide range of conservation and community volunteering, internships, wildlife courses, and educational group travel options as well as family volunteering experiences.
The project fee paid by volunteers is used to fund the ongoing maintenance and development of those projects and the long term survival of our conservation efforts. In addition we make any further funding and donations available to our projects through The Happy Africa Foundation, our UK-registered charity.
We take a holistic approach to the implementation and running of our projects. We always aim to integrate ourselves into every level of the community working from grass roots to local governments. We have a core emphasis on learning and empowerment for all involved – changing the lives of people in the communities we impact, our volunteers and all African Impact staff.
