About Us

"Acosida" is the Spanish acronym for "Alliance Against AIDS". It is registered as a non-profit corporation in Mexico. Established in 1983, Clínica Acosida Tijuana was the first private free AIDS outpatient clinic in Mexico. Staffed with a physician, nurses, and pharmacist, Acosida provides free HIV medical treatment and medications for residents of Tijuana who do not have health insurance. Acosida also provides free HIV counseling and Western Blot blood testing to the general public. The clinic is open to the public every Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The clinic maintains a food and clothing bank for our low-income and unemployed patients. We thus accept donations of new or slightly used clothing in good condition; non-perishable food items, and also non-expired medications (especially HIV meds), and medical supplies. In addition to the clinic in Tijuana, the San Diego HIV organization APICAP serves as a donations drop-off location for Acosida.
