SieChitá is a US-based, non-profit organization with operations Bogotá, Colombia. We work on a variety of projects with community members around the themes of education, innovation and sustainability. Our name was chosen out of respect for the Muisca people who once controlled the territory, with 'sie' meaning 'water' and 'chita' meaning 'our land'. This name represents the importance of water for people in the region and highlights the significance of our belonging to the land. We are currently in the process of acquiring 501(c)(3) status.
Vision statement: SieChitá will be known for its work in effectively combining the efforts of individuals from both the local and global community to develop sustainable solutions for life in the Northern High Andes.
Mission statement: To deliver a space for creativity, discovery and innovation, where resources are combined and mobilized in a sustainable manner to provide alternative and ecologically sound solutions for the long-term conservation and uplifting of communities in the Northern High Andes.
