Our Mission Teaching Matters is a non-profit professional development organization that partners with educators to improve public schools. We use technology in the classroom to prepare teachers and their students for 21st Century learning and achievement.
Who We Are Founded in 1994 by teachers, technology experts, and business leaders, Teaching Matters has worked with hundreds of schools and thousands of teachers and principals in New York City and around the country.
What We Do Research has shown that technology in the classroom can positively affect student achievement and attitudes toward learning when teachers are properly trained. Teaching Matters provides teachers and principals with hands-on professional development in the classroom, in group workshops, and online. From the arts and literacy to science and social studies, we design programs that support your school's curriculum and make learning more relevant and engaging.
How We Work Whether in the classroom or the principal's office, conducting customized workshops or developing long-term plans, we: Work with schools to assess their resources, skills, and goals; Guide principals in modern management skills, educational strategies, and technology planning; Provide teachers with classroom-based training targeted to student needs; Develop engaging learning programs for students and evaluate results.
Our work has raised millions in private funds for public schools and has been recognized with numerous awards including Online Learning Magazine's Excellence in E-Learning.
