First Light has built a school in the village North Sehalli where the
Santal tribe lives. Everyday the children learn the English language
with the help of games and songs. When they have acquired the
basics of the English language and are able to use it in their daily
lives, their chances of finding a high-paid job are much higher.
Education is the basic principle that will lead to prosperity for the
Santal tribe. However First Light has much wider ideals. Education
is the basic need for the children and the village, but so is good
health. Therefore First Light will arrange a medical check for the
children as often as possible. This is accompanied by a course for
the parents about sanitation and health. Also HIV/AIDS will be
included in a course for the village to make them acquainted with
the medical possibilities.
