Appalachian Voices is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that brings people together to solve the environmental problems having the greatest impact on the central and southern Appalachian Mountains by providing them with tools and strategies for successful grassroots campaigns. Our members and allies work together with our staff, board of directors, and volunteers to defend the rich natural and cultural heritage of Appalachia Our goal is to protect the region's natural resources for future generations and uphold Appalachia as a national model of a vibrant, just and sustainable economy.
Our major programs activities include shifting the southeast away from coal to cleaner sources of energy, addressing water quality issues in coal impacted communities, promoting energy savings, and ending mountain top removal coal mining.
