The mission of the American Red Cross Greater New York Region is to improve the quality of human life; enhance self-reliance and concern for others; and help people to avoid, prepare for and cope with emergencies. The American Red Cross in Greater New York (ARC/GNY) accomplishes its mission through services that are governed and directed by volunteers, and are consistent with its congressional charter and the principles of the International Red Cross. Four basic values guide ARC/GNY in its mission. These are: Commitment to Fulfilling Community Needs Commitment to Volunteerism Commitment to People Commitment to the Principle of Impartiality
