Description

Living Classrooms strengthens communities and inspires young people to achieve their potential through hands-on education and job training, using urban, natural, and maritime resources as "living classrooms". Our motto is "learning by doing".

Living Classrooms is a non-profit educational organization, with campuses in both Baltimore and Washington, DC with a distinct competency in experiential learning--literally learning by direct experience or what we call, learning by doing.

Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region (LC-NCR) began providing exciting hands-on educational programming on the Anacostia River in 2001 and brought Discovery Creek Children's Museum into their family in 2007 to offer additional exciting programs to the schools, families and communities in the Washington, DC metro area. LC-NCR has utilized the lessons learned and best practices of all Living Classrooms programs to establish highly effective programs for youth and adults in the D.C. metropolitan area. Over the last six years of programming, LC-NCR served over 18,000 participants in educational and workforce development programs, last year alone!
