Bishop Anderson House

About Us

The mission of Bishop Anderson House is to advance healing by ministering to the sick and to those who care for them.

We provide pastoral care by visiting the sick in hospitals and training volunteers who serve the sick in hospitals, nursing homes, congregations, hospice programs, and in other institutions. Bishop Anderson House is ecumenical, serving over 10,000 people annually from every religious tradition.

Every year we provide a volunteer chaplain training course that not only equips students with basic skills necessary for compassionate care, but also provides self-reflection and spiritual growth as a vital component of coursework. Our ministry includes providing pastoral care for women in trauma, ministering to the elderly, bringing teddy bears to children in intensive care, advocating for the uninsured, and promoting ethics and spirituality in medicine.

Bishop Anderson House also serves as a crossroads of faith and science by teaching ethics in a medical school; collaborating with psychologists, chaplains, epidemiologists and physicians in the integration of spirituality and medicine; and by contributing to the field of research in this area.

Bishop Anderson House is a member agency of Episcopal Charities and Community Services.
