Last modified: August 3, 2009, 1:19 AM

Sisters Empowered to Promote Interest & opportunities in the Arts, (SEPIA), is a comprehensive non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the professional development of women of color in a variety of arts disciplines-film, literary, visual, music and performing arts.

Established in 1996, SEPIA serves as a national resource to provide a network and constituency of women of color artists, increase educational resources and funding opportunities, and advocate for greater representation of women of color in the arts and entertainment industries.

SEPIA's flagship program-The REEL Shades Film Series-is an annual three-day film festival of works by veteran and emerging filmmakers of color. REEL Shades is designed to raise awareness, build new audiences and create a venue to exhibit and embrace the diverse cultures and roles of women in film behind the scenes.
