Evergreen City Ballet Mission Statement
"To provide the highest quality performances for audiences in the Puget Sound region, while developing dancers and educating a diverse public and its youth in the art of dance".
Evergreen City Ballet was founded in 1994 and received its non-profit status in 1995. It was established in downtown Auburn as both a ballet school providing professional quality training, and as a performing company. On September 1, 2009, ECB relocated to a state-of-the art, custom designed facility in the Cedar River Corporate Park, 2230 Lind Avenue SW, in Renton. The 7,600 square foot facility contains three dance studios, two of which can be joined to form a Black Box Theatre, plus offices and costume and set storage. A ten year lease insures the company's long-term stability and reinforces our commitment to this community.
The Evergreen City Ballet school offers pre-performance ballet classes for aspiring professionals along with open classes in a variety of dance forms for all ages and abilities. Classes include ballet technique, pointe, variations, jazz, modern, improvisation, composition and Pilates, in addition to seminars on nutrition, costuming and production, and dance history.During the summer many of our school students are accepted into dance intensives offered by major ballet companies around the world. The Evergreen City Ballet offers a summer program of its own, welcoming dancers from the region to spend three to six weeks in a variety of classes taught by our artistic staff and guest faculty from major companies. Classes include ballet technique, pointe, partnering, variations, jazz, modern, improvisation, composition and Pilates, in addition to seminars on nutrition, costuming and production, and dance history.
Our reputation as one of the Northwest's most successful dance institutions has brought us national recognition for years. Many of our dancers have gone on to professional careers with renowned ballet companies around the world including San Francisco Ballet Pacific Northwest Ballet and Oregon Ballet Theatre.
