About Us

RuWCED is a not- for-profit grass root organization that works to promote the health, education, livelihoods and human rights of rural women and children. We work in collaboration with community based women groups, traditional councils, schools and health centers. We also explore and extend the relationship between resources, women's health and women's human rights in a bit to promote a humanistic vision of bodily integrity and well-being.

We are primarily dedicated to advocacy, service provision and networking. Responding to the needs of women, orphans and vulnerable children through: women's health protection and promotion, HIV/ADS awareness, care, treatment and de-stigmatizing initiatives, discouraging Female Genital Mutilation(FGM) and child marriages, keeping girls in school, providing psycho-social support to children with difficult learning conditions, improving livelihoods security through farm and non-farm economic activities as well as reinforcing community initiated responses that aim to meet similar needs. We also provide child sponsorships especially to children who lost their mothers from maternal mortality or HIV/AIDS.
