About the Scaling What Works Initiative:
Launched in 2010, Scaling What Works is a multiyear learning initiative of Grantmakers for Effective Organizations to expand the number of grantmakers and public sector funders that are working together to broaden the impact of high-performing nonprofits. In 2012, GEO's Scaling What Works initiative helped private and public sector funders advance the conversation about their role in scaling impact. Activities included: a national workshop series to build the financial assessment and evaluation capacity of grantmakers in philanthropically underserved areas. Publications and webinars on learning communities and supporting nonprofit talent, publications to share early lessons learned from the social innovation fund, meetings with intermediaries of the social innovation fund and communication efforts to advance the notion of scale as growing impact.
