About Us

The Vermont Housing & Conservation Board is an independent, state-supported funding agency providing grants, loans and technical assistance to nonprofit organizations, municipalities and state agencies for the development of perpetually affordable housing and for the conservation of important agricultural land, recreational land, natural areas and historic properties in Vermont.

VHCB subprograms include an AmeriCorps Program, a Healthy & Lead-Safe Homes Program, and a Farm and Forest Viability Program.

Established in 1987, over that period, VHCB has managed state and federal funding for the creation of 12,925 permanently affordable homes, the conservation of 746 farms, 431,000 acres of farmland natural areas and recreational lands, and 70 historic community buildings with public use.
