About us

BAVC's supports its mission of inspiring social change by empowering independent media makers to create and share diverse stories through art, education and technology. Through a combination of artist residencies, grants, and professional development programming, BAVC ensures that emerging, mid-career and established independent artists connect to, and acquire training in, new media technologies, exhibition and distribution opportunities, and, perhaps most importantly, a community of artists who support one another in the creation of innovative socially relevant media.

BAVC's model has been in place for 40 years. That model is an equation of creative technology, arts and education. We are a state of the art center where culturally significant projects are made every day -- a place where you can take classes, make media, and network with a diverse community of mediamakers. From the first video project to PBS broadcast or the big screen at Sundance; from desktop applications to professional web design, we help media makers get there.
