Through the scientific explorations of music and the brain, the Institute for Music and Neurologic Function seeks to establish new knowledge and develop more effective therapies which awaken, stimulate and heal through the extraordinary power of music.
Who We Are
The IMNF is a not-for-profit, 501(c) (3) organization and a member of CenterLight Health System, a national leader in providing residential, home and community-based long term care for chronically ill and disabled adults throughout metropolitan New York. Founded in 1995, the IMNF is driven by over 35 years of clinical observations on the actual effects of music on individuals who have different types of physical and neurological disorders.
The IMNF's headquarters are located at 612 Allerton Avenue, Bronx, NY. The facility has dedicated areas for a neuroscience lab, music meditation studio, pediatric treatment, and much more. The IMNF offers its groundbreaking music therapy programs to individuals within the CenterLight Health System network and the New York City community through the IMNF Music Therapy Professionals Practice.
What We Do
Directed by renowned music therapist Dr. Concetta M. Tomaino, the IMNF conducts research on the relationship between music and the brain, provides patients with music therapy, and offers our professional peers around the world the latest music therapy education and training information about best practices.
