Young Audiences New York is a not-for-profit arts-in-education organization, founded in 1952, and is one of 33 chapters nationwide. Young Audiences New York provides professional performing, literary and visual arts programs in schools in New York City and the surrounding counties. During the 2002-2003 school year, YANY reached nearly 237,000 students, teachers and families in over 240 schools and community organizations with approximately 12,000 workshops and performances. These programs include artist residencies, performance programs, after school programs, teacher training workshops, master classes, community concerts and special projects. Young Audiences was the 1994 recipient of the National Medal of Arts.
