Root Cause is a research and consulting firm dedicated to mobilizing the nonprofit, public, and business sectors to work together in a new social impact market that fosters social innovation and distributes resources based on performance. Since 2004, we have worked across the nonprofit, public, and business sectors to provide leaders from all sectors with the skills and information they need to bring twenty-first century solutions to old social problems.

Despite the massive resources devoted to addressing social problems here in the United States, progress remains slow and fragmentary. We need a social impact market that provides the infrastructure, systems, policies, institutions, and measures to foster innovation and channel resources to the highest-performing nonprofits. Ultimately, we envision a world in which our systems ensure that individuals' basic needs are met.
