Description

Communities in Schools of Philadelphia, a non-profit organization, is one of 200 independent affiliates of Communities in School, inc., the country's largest stay-in-school network, incorporated in 1977. Since its own incorporation in 1986 CISP has worked in close partnership with the School District of Philadelphia to leverage community resources on behalf of students and their families. Currently over 10,000 student per year are being helped to successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life. The various programs offered by CISP target the population of disadvantaged, low income, underserved students. Our specialized programmatic approach incorporated the following "Five CIS Basics" to provide support to Philadelphia's youth because every child needs and deserves:

•A personal, one-on-one relationship with a caring adult •A safe place to learn and grow •A healthy start and a healthy future •A marketable skill to use upon graduation •A chance to give back to their peers and community
