A modern health and fitness center built around the principles and practices of West African ethnomedicine and located near the high biodiversity Tiwai Island Gola Forest.
The guiding idea of our partnership project is to protect the high biodiversity environments of West Africa by making them relevant to sustainable livelihood activities of the people who live in or around them. West African life and customs emerged from the rich biodiversity of the Upper Guinea rainforest. Preserving the cultures that emerged from this forest could be an important unifying factor in conflict-prone West Africa, while applying traditional knowledge in a 21st Century context is potentially a rich source of revenue for rural development.
