Ethical Encounters started in 2008 through the growing need for more support for the communities based in rural Africa. Most of the on-going grass root projects are unable either to financially support themselves or lacked the man power and sought EE's help to continue or improve their work. Caring about responsible travel, we realized that the best way to bridge the gap was to bring travelers and resources together to develop meaningful volunteer and ecotourism experiences which could help solve the specific issues for each project.
These volunteer adventures are for you if:
Most of these trips are moderate, some of them even moderate in terms of accommodation, as we know that this is your holiday, and volunteering does not have to involve sleeping on the floor; ethical volunteering is our specialty - although we can arrange anything you prefer, and will gladly tailor-make a trip to suit your budget and requirements.
This unique concept provides a learning experience in responsible travel to various destinations. All our projects are grassroots and on-going in the communities. We want to use tourism as a tool to 'create better places for people to live in and visit'. Travelers get an insight on how they have successfully created positive impact in the local community and the surrounding environment.
Don't just scratch the surface: help that African girl have a safe place to live, teach hospitality skills to a Massai family so they aren't reliant on a daily for a living, or help construct a school for a village. In so doing you will find yourself immersed in local life, championing a cause and learning new things, all combined with sights that you want to see, led by an expert local guide!
