Working Today's – Freelancers Union (www.FreelancersUnion.org) is a nonprofit organization that represents the needs of the independent workforce through advocacy, information, and service. More than one-third of American workers are now freelancers, consultants, temps, and part-timers. While work is becoming increasingly mobile, benefits are still traditionally tied to full-time jobs, and most independent workers are forced to pay high monthly premiums or forego health insurance.
Freelancers Union's signature project is a system that allows workers to have portable benefits, unattached to their jobs. Freelancers Union demonstrates how to build an economic and policy constituency of independent workers by providing affordable health insurance plans and other benefits.
FreelancersUnion.org offers the Freelancers Yellow Pages, where independent workers can create profiles to advertise their freelance services. They can search for work in Gig listings, and both freelancers and companies hiring for short-term projects can post gigs.
