About us

The mission of the Leitner Center for International Law and Justice is to contribute to the promotion of social justice around the world by encouraging knowledge of and respect for international law and international human rights standards in particular. The Center pursues this goal by sponsoring education, scholarship, and human rights advocacy, and facilitating collaboration among law students, scholars, and human rights defenders in the United States and abroad.

The Leitner Center increases awareness of human rights violations throughout the world and prepares future lawyers to address those violations through, among other things: an annual human rights fact-finding mission culminating in a comprehensive published report; a high-profile speaker series; a funded summer internship program; a prestigious fellowship for the administration and organization of the Program and its annual mission; a human rights clinic and a sustainable development legal initiative.
