Nonprofit (San Francisco): Refugee Transitions

Refugee Transitions (RT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting refugee and immigrant families in becoming self-sufficient in the United States. We provide home-based services to help these families attain the English language, life, job and academic skills they need to succeed in their new communities.

Refugee Transitions is the only agency of its kind in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since 1990, RT has served over 2,300 clients from around the world and has provided refugee and immigrant families with high-quality, individualized ESL instruction, orientation to life in the Bay Area, academic tutoring/mentoring for youth, and family support. RT currently has offices in San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose, and is a dynamic, growing organization.

Refugee Transitions' clients reflect the diversity of the refugee and immigrant experience in the Bay Area. In the past year, we have had clients from countries such as Liberia, Burma, Bhutan, China, Bosnia, Iraq, Yemen, Colombia, Mexico, and Sudan.
