The Institute for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU) conducts objective, solution-seeking research that empowers American Muslims to develop their community and fully contribute to democracy and pluralism in the United States. Since 2002, ISPU has been at the forefront of providing empirical Muslim studies research and offering actionable recommendations and implementable solutions to educate and enable community change agents, the media, policy makers and the general public alike.
In a post 9/11 world, American Muslims face numerous challenges that prevent individuals from realizing their full potential. ISPU addresses these challenges by conducting rigorous solution-seeking research for and about the American Muslim community and providing recommendations, resources and toolkits to address community challenges. Through mass education, ISPU shares its findings and raises public awareness. By engaging thought leaders on emerging trends, ISPU offers though pieces and neutral forums for the open exchange of ideas and debate. And, through targeted, strategic outreach and collaborative partnerships, ISPU engages change agents and the public in order to catalyze progress.
