City Growers is the educational arm of Brooklyn Grange, a rooftop farm business in New York City. The program is charged with coordinating and facilitating school and camp visits that engage young New Yorkers in educational tours and workshops on the farm and in the classroom. Without leaving the five boroughs, City Growers gives students the opportunity to visit a real working farm, learn about food and the environment, and connect with soil and plants. Educational programming at this unique and inspirational urban farm setting empowers children and young adults to improve their relationship with food and envision a greener and healthier future for their city.
Our Mission
City Growers connects urban communities with agriculture, food and environment through farm education and advocacy in order to foster a culture of health and sustainability.
Programs
City Growers aims to reach as many young New Yorkers as possible with high quality farm-based education. There are three main program areas through which this is accomplished, including Educational Tours; Workshops; and School Partnerships. In all of these programs, City Growers works with teachers to integrate the visit into their curriculum, tailoring activities to best fit the educational experience and ages of participating students.
