The Evoluer House is a dynamic and innovative non-profit organization that empowers at-risk girls by nurturing positive self-expression and personal development. The target population is girls of color in Philadelphia who are experiencing a unique set of social and emotional challenges and barriers. Our curriculum is designed to promote emotional, mental, and social well-being and to provide girls the tools they will need to make positive choices over a twelve-week program. Evoluer House provides a safe community for girls to share experiences and learn both from and alongside one another.
We at Evoluer House opened our doors to Philadelphia teens and began our mission in 2004. Since our inception, we have grown tremendously and, to date, over 700 girls have graduated from our core program – the Evoluer Personal Development Workshop – which offers a positive, reality-based learning experience for girls and promotes self-image, ambition, and true personal development. Our program challenges girls to think bigger, dream higher, love the skin they are in, and be the best they can be.
We have successfully partnered with the Philadelphia Department of Recreation to operate our personal development program at 15 recreational facilities. In March 2008, Evoluer House launched EvoluerGirl BlogSpot and invited teen girls to join. The response was truly incredible. Over 4000 girls from around the globe have subscribed to the motivational network where they can find college scholarship information, enrichment workshops alerts, post and send text messages, and more.
