The Global Alliance for Animals and People

The mission of the Global Alliance for Animals and People is to assist Latin American communities in finding solutions for the management challenges and conflicts they face as they rely on and share their environments with domestic and wild animals. We are a global community that strongly believe that Latin America still needs support as they continue to develop. We focus on empowering communities through education, capacity building, community development, and providing veterinary services and disaster relief when and where needed.

The vast majority of families in Latin America rely on animals for survival, protection or companionship. Although there are organizations that focus on people and others that focus on animals, we bring them together to improve the lives of both, in a healthy and environmentally sustainable manner. Working primarily in Guatemala and Chile we engage rural and urban communities in finding their own solutions to improve animal husbandry, to prepare for and mitigate the impacts of disasters on animals, to prevent diseases transmitted by or affecting their animals, to educate children about healthy animal relationships, and to plan humane stray dog control programs.
