Housing Up is a 501(c)(3) provider of affordable housing with resident services to enable formerly homeless and at-risk families make transformational changes in their lives. THC was founded in 1990 in the District of Columbia as a homeless services organization. After 25 years in operation, THC serves more than 500 low-income families through a variety of transitional and permanent supportive housing programs. THC's main offices are located in the Brightwood (Ward 4) neighborhood of Northwest DC.
THC Affordable Housing, Inc.(THCAH), an affiliate of THC,is a non-profit affordable housing developer, founded in 2005. THCAH's mission is to develop affordable housing in the Washington metropolitan area to serve the needs of very low to moderate income households.In 2011, THCAH completed development of 114 affordable rental units in two historic garden apartment properties, Fort View and Webster Gardens, located in Ward 4. In 2015, THCAH completed Weinberg Commons, a 36-unit development that is the first multi-family, retrofit Passive House project in the United States. THCAH has established itself as an experienced developer eligible for the multiple sources of commercial and public debt and equity financing available to nonprofit developers in DC. THCAH has an existing portfolio of five properties, with an additional three properties in development.
