Newark Emergency Services for Families, Inc. (NESF) is a private not-for-profit organization located in Newark, NJ. NESF offers an array of different services through its integrated services delivery system, which divides the agency into four quadrants: Emergency Assistance, Self-Sufficiency Services, Homeless Services and Healthcare Services. The Emergency Assistance quadrant provides rental/mortgage and utility assistance, senior services and comprehensive services for individuals affected by HIV/AIDS (Ryan White and HOPWA). Within the Self-Sufficiency quadrant, case managers guide clients who have exceeded their lifetime limit of public assistance (60 months) along a pathway toward self-sufficiency. The Homeless Services quadrant houses our Drop-In Center, which is a safe and welcoming center wherein, clients come to shower, wash clothes, have a snack and receive service referrals. In partnership with Newark Community Health Care Centers, Inc., NESF offers on-site healthcare services to clients who are either underinsured or uninsured. In addition, NESF also hosts a Family Success Center intended to provide long-term solutions for low-income families as well as reducing the incidence of child abuse within Newark. Last year, NESF provided services to a total of 71, 919 individuals throughout Newark and Greater Essex County.
