Description

Over the last two years, Pact has implemented over 100 projects in more than 60 countries in Asia, Eurasia, Africa, Latin America and South America with field offices in 22 countries.

Most project activities target one of five program sectors: democracy and governance, HIV/AIDS, livelihoods, natural resource management and peace building. While the greater share of our projects fall within the first two sectors, we see all five sectors as equal in importance. When, in a country, we are working in multiple sectors (often with multiple donors), we strive to integrate our interventions to leverage impact. In Southern Sudan, for example, drilling bore holes to bring potable water to people who have no ready access to clean water can offer opportunities to introduce income generation activities to women or to organize village disease surveillance committees to fight Guinea worm and cholera.

Institutional and organizational strengthening is built into nearly all of our projects. Signature cross-cutting approaches include advocacy, information for development and knowledge management, network strengthening, and organizational development.

In addition to project implementation, Pact has over 33 years of grants management experience stemming from its original role as the grants administration arm of the United States Agency for International Development Office of Private Voluntary Cooperation. In the past 17 years, Pact has managed more than $350 million in subgrants for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. State Department, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), World Bank, Pfizer Foundation, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Displaced Children and Orphans Fund and Leahy War Victims. Pact awards grants ranging from as little as $1,000 to as much as $5,000,000.
