Our mission is to create a better quality of life for homebound children battling life-threatening illness using technology to connect them with their friends and family. We provide laptops, webcameras, high speed internet and the administrative support to create virtual, social connections between homebound children and their classrooms using video conference technology.
Since being founded by a parent whose child was diagnosed with leukemia, Hopecam has connected over 180 children with their friends, classmates and families. Recognizing the critical need for socialization, Hopecam seeks to bridge the lonely divide between homebound children and their friends at school during this frightening time. Staying connected to friends significantly reduces the stress of re-entry when treatment is completed and children resume a normal life.
We are a grassroots organization, growing quickly in Virginia, Washington, DC and Maryland.
