About us

ODIM Guatemala is an organization working with indigenous Maya in the villages of San Juan and San Pablo La Laguna on the shores of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. We are a community-based organization working within the Guatemalan community providing competent and caring solutions to pressing health and educational needs.

ODIM Guatemala operates two medical clinics and a dental clinic; women's health, nutrition, sexual education, diabetes and student scholarship programs in the communities of San Pablo and San Juan on Lake Atitlan.  ODIM welcomes medical, dental and construction teams (college age+) from other countries and employs 35 local staff persons (13 full-time, 22 part-time) who make a profound difference in these communities year-round.

ODIM is a small, strong organization that has set its priority as assessing and improving the core services we provide to our two communities.

The people of San Juan, located on the western shore of Lake Atitlan, have done well connecting their centuries-old skills of creating beautiful woven textiles and painted art to the tourists who visit. San Pablo rests 800 feet above the lake, accessible only by a deteriorated road. San Pablo is well off the tourist track and conditions, by every measure of development, are low. For this reason, ODIM constructed its second clinic there and opened it in February 2014.
