Since 1998, New Profit has helped a portfolio of social entrepreneurs build world-class organizations and scale their social impact. While individuals and communities across our nation have always looked out for one another, many of our social systems need reinvention. New Profit is working to create a system in which innovative, proven solutions to our country's most persistent social problems can be identified and grown to communities that need them. We believe that by helping to support new, entrepreneurial solutions, we can narrow the opportunity divide in our nation and create transformative social change.
With the support of individual investors and our signature partner, Monitor Deloitte, New Profit's venture philanthropy fund provides multi-year financial and strategic support to a portfolio of social entrepreneurs working in education, workforce development, public health, and other areas in the United States and abroad. In addition, New Profit convenes thought leaders in social-sector innovation at the annual Gathering of Leaders, and also drives other initiatives to release the potential of social entrepreneurship. The Action Tank, an operating unit of New Profit, inspired by the needs and ideas of Gathering participants, launched in 2006 to develop, pilot, and promote new approaches to public problem solving that tap the principles and results of social entrepreneurship.
